I absolutely love the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake. The stories have everything. Lots of laugh out loud humor, hunky alpha men, adventure, intricate plots and very hot sex. There is BDSM. It's so well written it is fascinating to me but might not be for everyone. This story is about Nick a brooding Russian former spy. Hayley an American who finds herself in trouble and reaches out to an old family friend, Nick, who is also a former lover. Put yourself in Lexi's capable hands and enjoy the ride. It is a love story and does have a HEA.

As always, her characters are seamless and perfectly developed, with their only flaws being those they are intended to have. I fell hopelessly in love with both Hayley and Nick, and rekindled the love affair I already had with the other members of the McKay-Taggert and Knight team. It kept me on the edge of my seat, squirming with both suspense and desire, throughout its entirety. Another outrageously great book in this series. Lexi knows how to write a sexy male character and Nick doesn't disappoint. As in all her books there is a little bit of everything, action adventure sex and angst to name a few. Another 5 stars for this amazing book and the woman who wrote it! I truly hope this series never comes to an end, each book and novella is fresh and new. Lexi you ROCK❤️️

Once again Lexi Blake brings us into the world of spies, intrigue, romance and a bit of BDSM to keep hot! I love this series so much I will never get tired of it and that is saying a lot because most others I start to not care about the new characters. But the Mckay / Taggart folks are so wonderful I devour every book in the series. We met Nick briefly a few books back but then became more acquainted with him in Submission is not Enough when he was mourning the loss of his partner/lover Desire. It turns out she wasn’t the love of his life. It was actually her young cousin Hayley who he meets through Des develops a friendship with. When Hayley is, older she tells Nick her feelings for him— on the heels of a huge fight with Des he has an unforgettable night with the woman he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, Hayley. Unfortunately, Des and fate have other plans and he leaves poor Hayley with the thought that he doesn’t want her, choosing revenge over love. This devastates her of course but she preservers, goes to college becomes a history professor. She has a nice quiet life, until Desire’s death turns Hayley’s life upside down. In order to save her life, she needs to turn to the one man who broke her heart for protection. I loved Nick and Hayley’s chemistry at first knowing their backstory I thought she would let him walk all over her but she proved me wrong. She put him in his place for leaving her and lying to her and once she understood his lifestyle she wanted to know more about the man she fell in love with so long ago. Nick thought he was protecting Hayley by leaving her, classic hero mistake. Once Hayley is back in his life he can’t resist the need to have her. Hayley wants to be his partner as well as his lover and once Nick realizes that’s the only way he will be able to have the woman he loves it’s all sunshine and roses from there. Well sort of—Des left them a big old mess to handle so there is a bunch of suspense, a bit of violence, a whole lot of sarcasm and a few bodies to be disposed of. Ian and Charlotte Taggart play a big part in this book and I was so happy to get more of this terrific couple. They added an extra special spice to this one especially when Nick uses their sexual exploits at the Garden to get Hayley in touch with her submissive/voyeur side. When Hayley and Nick stop letting their pasts with Des get in the way of their future they are able to see what really matters. Another outrageously great book in this series. Lexi knows how to write a sexy male character and Nick doesn't disappoint. As in all her books there is a little bit of everything, action adventure sex and angst to name a few. Another 5 stars for this amazing book and the woman who wrote it! Once again Lexi Blake brings us into the world of spies, intrigue, romance and a bit of BDSM to keep hot! I love this series so much I will never get tired of it and that is saying a lot because most others I start to not care about the new characters. But the Mckay / Taggart folks are so wonderful I devour every book in the series. We met Nick briefly a few books back but then became more acquainted with him in Submission is not Enough when he was mourning the loss of his partner/lover Desire. It turns out she wasn’t the love of his life. It was actually her young cousin Hayley who he meets through Des develops a friendship with. When Hayley is, older she tells Nick her feelings for him— on the heels of a huge fight with Des he has an unforgettable night with the woman he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, Hayley. Unfortunately, Des and fate have other plans and he leaves poor Hayley with the thought that he doesn’t want her, choosing revenge over love. This devastates her of course but she preservers, goes to college becomes a history professor. She has a nice quiet life, until Desire’s death turns Hayley’s life upside down. In order to save her life, she needs to turn to the one man who broke her heart for protection. I loved Nick and Hayley’s chemistry at first knowing their backstory I thought she would let him walk all over her but she proved me wrong. She put him in his place for leaving her and lying to her and once she understood his lifestyle she wanted to know more about the man she fell in love with so long ago. Nick thought he was protecting Hayley by leaving her, classic hero mistake. Once Hayley is back in his life he can’t resist the need to have her. Hayley wants to be his partner as well as his lover and once Nick realizes that’s the only way he will be able to have the woman he loves it’s all sunshine and roses from there. Well sort of—Des left them a big old mess to handle so there is a bunch of suspense, a bit of violence, a whole lot of sarcasm and a few bodies to be disposed of. Ian and Charlotte Taggart play a big part in this book and I was so happy to get more of this terrific couple. They added an extra special spice to this one especially when Nick uses their sexual exploits at the Garden to get Hayley in touch with her submissive/voyeur side. When Hayley and Nick stop letting their pasts with Des get in the way of their future they are able to see what really matters. I absolutely love the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake. The stories have everything. Lots of laugh out loud humor, hunky alpha men, adventure, intricate plots and very hot sex. There is BDSM. It's so well written it is fascinating to me but might not be for everyone. This story is about Nick a brooding Russian former spy. Hayley an American who finds herself in trouble and reaches out to an old family friend, Nick, who is also a former lover. Put yourself in Lexi's capable hands and enjoy the ride. It is a love story and does have a HEA.
